In the style of The Buena Vista Social Club, South African music icon David Kramer seeks out the last remaining players of a fast disappearing, distinctively South African phenomena - the Karoo Kitaar Blues.
Like the lyrics to their liedjies, this road-documentary records the isolated social conditions and arid desert landscape of the Great Karoo's talented inhabitants. It introduces us to each colourful personality, and to their homemade instruments, engaging techniques, and families and friends, before they travel with Kramer to record and perform in the unknown world of Cape Town. Focused on personalities that are destined to perform, this search for the Karoo's hidden artists is a delightful insight into a rarely viewed communal and visual landscape.
