Africa at the Pictures
Africa at the Pictures is a non
profit making organization that exists to promote the exhibition
and distribution of African film in the UK and Europe. Africa
at the Pictures also provides a platform for debate and discussions
relating to African Cinema. Now in its 14th year Africa at the
Pictures has presented events on contemporary African cinema at
a number of major venues across the UK and Europe. Many African
filmmakers have participated in events organized by Africa at
the Pictures in London, Berlin and Ljublijana. Recent events have
been showcasing African cinema and workshops in partnership with
the International Forum of New Cinema in Berlin from 2004 –
2006, Celebrating African Cinema in partnership with Africa 05,
Africa at the Pictures in Slovenia in 2002.
In partnership with other institutions Africa at the Pictures
has developed an exchange programme between the UK and South Africa,
that promotes cooperation and communication between independent
film and television makers in the two countries.
Africa at the Pictures 2007 is supported by the National Lottery
through the UK Film Council and Film London Regional Investment
Fund for England.
